HANGOUT Mastermind
The HANGOUT Mastermind is the fourth module of the Profitable Passion Program. It is a focus group of 4 to 6 entrepreneurs that are committed to helping each other achieving their goals. It is a mix of different industries to give you new perspectives, insights and knowledge how to grow your own business.
Each HANGOUT Mastermind will meet online on a monthly basis for 2 hours. A buddy system is included as well as a private Whatsapp group to share problems, challenges, knowledge and wins. The focus of the mastermind is on growing and achieving your goals.
The group size of the HANGOUT Mastermind
The ideal group size is six. Why you may ask? Well, Jim Rohn, an American entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker, once said:”You’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with”, which will make a total of six. One of my coaches said something related to this: “When you want to grow, surround yourself with people that will elevate you”.

That is exactly the goal of the HANGOUT mastermind; surrounding you with people that will elevate you. And with six people, each participant will get a hotseat each 3 months (more on that below). Each mastermind will be hosted by a coach (the seventh person in the group) to facilitate and support the group and manage the time, so that you can focus on your own priorities: growing your business, yourself and achieving your goals.
Why the name HANGOUT
Besides the idea of hanging out with other entrepreneurs, HANGOUT is an acronym for the ingredients of the mastermind. It is the combination of these ingredients that makes the Mastermind such a success:
Hotseat
Nothing to the detriment of the other components, I believe the Hotseat is the most valuable part of the HANGOUT Mastermind. During the monthly meetings, 1 or 2 participants get the stage to present a problem, challenge, doubt, whatever obstacle they’re facing. The group will give feedback, ask additional questions, share own experiences, tips, insights, whatever that will help you move forward and beyond the challenge. It will trigger new insights inside of you, new viewpoints and new paths that will lead to solutions.
Of course it doesn’t need to be obstacles, you can also use the Hotseat for presenting a new product, service, business idea and you would like the group feedback or tips. The Hotseats will be recorded, so that no information gets lost and you can review it whenever you want.
Accountability partner
The following is an African proverb: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together“. Of course, with the Mastermind, we already go together. In addition to that, you will get an accountability partner, a buddy.
Consider going to the gym. You start going each week, because you want to get more fit. After a few weeks, you skip a week due to circumstances. And before you know it, you forgot you had a gym subscription. Life just happens.
With a buddy, it’s much harder to skip a week. Besides, when you are working out at the gym, you will motivate each other, challenge each other to go do that additional repetition, to add that extra kilo, to go the extra mile. I know how that works, I’ve been there. The same principle applies over here. You and your buddy will keep each other accountable on your progress and make sure each month you’ve achieved your monthly milestones.
Network building
Part of becoming successful is growing your network. Of course during the Mastermind you will build a fruitful relationship with the other entrepreneurs in the group and they each have their own network that will become accessible for you. For those of you that are familiar with BNI (Business Network International, the most successful business network worldwide), the HANGOUT Mastermind is BNI on steroids.
Goal setting
At the kick-off of the Mastermind, you will present your year goals. We will reverse engineer those goals into monthly goals, each month we will monitor your progress and adjust the monthly goals if needed. Did you achieve your monthly goals? If yes, maybe a bit more ambitious goals next month? If not, what happened, what can we learn from it and how can we make sure you achieve your next monthly goals?
Observe and learn
A smart person learns from his mistakes, but a truly wise person learns from the mistakes of others. By observing the Hotseat of your fellow entrepreneurs, you’re likely to get new learnings, insights and tips yourself. It will trigger new thoughts in your own brain that will help you grow as well. So the hotseat is not only very valuable for the person “on stage”, it will serve the whole group.
Unconditional commitment
When you enter the HANGOUT Mastermind, we ask (and expect) unconditional commitment. That means, you are committed to achieve your goals and support your fellow peers to achieve their goals. Everything discussed in the group, stays in the group. It is of the utmost importance that the group is a safe environment in wich you can be vulnerable and every challenge you’re facing can be discussed. Only in such environment the biggest breakthroughs can appear. This principle of unconditional commitment applies to everybody in the group, both the participants as the host.
Together
The last letter of the HANGOUT Mastermind stands for Together. When you look at the success of BNI, one of the principles is “Givers gain”. That same principle applies here. It’s all for one, one for all. When you do good, it will come back to you. That is the power of the group.
Default agenda during the monthly meeting
Without structure, there is no efficiency. That’s why each monthly meeting will have a standard agenda, consisiting of the following points:
- Monthly goals (per participant)
- Did you achieve your goals
- Sharing of wins / challenges / learnings / milestones
- New goals coming month
- Check progress year goals
- Hot seat
- Coaching
- Questions, Answers and Comments
The coaching will be flexible and custom made, depending on the level and the needs of the group.
Is this for me?
Well, it’s not for you when you’re not ambitious, don’t want to grow your business as well as yourself, only want to take and don’t want to give, if you don’t understand English, when you think you’re not worth it, if you cannot be trusted and don’t want to put in the effort. The goal of the group is to have entrepreneurs from different industries, to give you new insights and prevent common blind spots, like using jargon. Something that is so basic for you (because it is industry jargon), can be totally gobbledegook for the others. There will be a financial investment involved, but when you add that to your goals, it’s basically free of charge.
